Name: Gavin Bennett, Third Year, Ard Scoil Chiarain Naofa, Co. Offaly

Background: Gavin began volunteering with the local Brosna Centre in order to give something back to a community which he is very proud to be part of.

Gavin participated in ‘Swim for a Mile’ for the Brosna Centre, training twice a week for three months in order to complete the swim and raise vital funds that the centre needed to stay open for the local community.

Gavin also volunteers baking goods for the cake sales in school for charity regularly and recently enjoyed taking part in a fashion show in his school called ‘This is Me’, in aid of autism awareness. Gavin also helped coordinate the ‘Relay for Life in Edenderry’, a 24 hour walk to honour people affected by cancer, raising much needed money for Irish Cancer Society.

Gavin’s motivation for volunteering: "My motivation for volunteering was to give something back to the Brosna Centre ASCN. I wanted to help raise much needed funds for the Brosna Centre, I know how vital funds are to keep the Centre going.”
