Elaine Nagle (Rathmore, Co. Kerry), a student at Scoil Phobail Sliabh Luachra, is an active member of the Rathmore Social Active Group (SAG). As Chairperson of the Youth section, she fundraised for the local day care, organised events for the elderly in the local community and assisted with the Chernobyl children’s outings. Elaine is a recipient of a West Cork Garda Youth Award and recently accepted the Kerryman Best Community Enterprise Award on behalf of the Social Action Group at an award ceremony in Tralee.

Elaine has also coached a first-year girls’ football team, alter served at Shrone church and assisted with the Kerry Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes.

“Elaine is an excellent young lady: hardworking, idealistic, innovative, good humoured, sincere, honest, generous and caring. She has excellent communication, team work and leadership skills, having great rapport with her peers but also with the many older people with whom she comes in contact,” says Jerh O’Donoghue, Chairperson of Social Action Group Rathmore CLG. “She has emerged as an excellent leader, inspiring, respecting and listening to her fellow members and encouraging them to be as active as possible.”
