Ciara McKenna (Dublin, Co. Dublin), a student at St. Mary’s Secondary School, volunteers at ChildVision where she helps with the education and therapy needs of children with various disabilities. Ciara was inspired by ChildVision’s life-changing work with children and adults living with autism, deafness, motor impairments and Down Syndrome. She volunteers her time in many areas of ChildVision from working directly with children during equine therapy to running pony camps and hosting birthday parties.

“Ciara epitomises what we look for in a volunteer. She shows great empathy and respect for our clients, while helping to ensure that every session that she is involved in is fun, first and foremost,” says Terri Brosnan, Equine Therapy Project Manager of ChildVision. “She has given so much to this community within ChildVision – helping us to raise funds, participating in our open days and garden parties as well as helping out on a weekly basis – so it is wonderful to see her getting some recognition for her hard work.”
